Analytical Chemistry Team Leader Location: Bedford, UK Job Type: Full-time, Permanent Join a leading environmental laboratory and apply your expertise in Analytical Chemistry (ICP-MS) to complex, real-world challenges. The Role In this supervisor role you will lead a high-performing Inorganic Chemistry team. You will take ownership of advanced instrumentation, including ICP-MS and CV-AFS, ensuring the delivery of high-quality analytical data to support major analytical chemistry projects. Being hands-on in the laboratory, you’ll play a key role in day-to-day laboratory operations, while also contributing to method development and quality systems. The laboratory is a state-of-the-art facility specialising in ultra-trace analysis and supports large-scale, long-term national monitoring initiatives. Key Responsibilities Analytical Leadership: Provide technical expertise across workflows, interpret complex datasets, and resolve anomalies to support client decision-making. Instrumentation: Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot ICP-MS systems, ensuring optimal performance and uptime. Method Development: Lead development, validation, and optimisation of analytical methods for environmental matrices in line with regulatory requirements. Quality & Data Management: Maintain accredited quality systems (UKAS-aligned), complete proficiency testing, and ensure accurate LIMS data handling and review. Team Leadership: Supervise, mentor, and train lab analysts, fostering a collaborative and high-performance environment. Skills & Experience BSc in Chemistry or a related discipline (or equivalent experience) Strong experience in an accredited analytical laboratory Proven expertise with ICP-MS and CV-AFS instrumentation. ICP Method development and troubleshooting experience Experience working to accredited quality systems (e.g., UKAS/ ISO17025) Why Apply?
